Book Review #13: Crime Travelers by Paul Aertker

I found Crime Travelers to be an interesting book, though there were plenty of parts that seemed unrealistic and even some parts left open-ended. It had a good premise, interesting and well-written characters, there were tons of great facts about France (where the story took place), but the parts where it lacked brought the entire thing down for me. The main character, Lucas Benes, had too much going on with his character that was sometimes left out to make it easier to move the plot along. However, this book was written with middle schoolers in mind and in that regard it was good.

There were also a few printing errors, spaces inside words multiple times. Other than that, the grammar was fine, though it seemed as if any chance to put a fact based on France was taken. Which of course is fine for a middle-school-based book, but it ruined the flow at points. However, as stated before, it had a great idea and truly it was heading in the right direction, I think if the author would have been more focused on writing a good story instead of an informative story it could have been much better.

    Overall book rating: 7/10
