Book Review #16: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

City of Bones is brilliant book tied in the world of Shadow hunters. I found this book to be really well-written, as are most of Cassandra Clare's books. I had been completely caught off guard by the plot twist. I found it brilliant that you, the reader, are brought into this world with the main character. Though there are some parts that I felt she understood more than she should have at that point. It was still a beautifully written story that ties to today's society and can make you question every dark alley and dark corner.

I turned every page of this book with joy excited to see what would happen next, it was very captivating. It had moments that were meant to be funny that landed wonderfully, though there were also moments I had to take a step back and think about what I had just read. This is also the start to a series, and I find that it concluded the main story well, but left some parts open ended (to be concluded in later books). While usually this would be upsetting for a book, the main parts are concluded and what isn't concluded gets concluded later on.

    Short Synopsis:

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

    Overall book rating: 10/10
